The electronic label was founded in 1978 by the pioneer Klaus Schulze and Michael Haentjes, who was at that time working as a music journalist. The label came to the mind of the wide audience after the release of the debut album of the band Ideal, one of the founders of the Neue Deutsche Welle. In the year 1983 Klaus Schulze left the label to concentrate on his music. He was replaced by Mark Sakautzky as a musical director. Under his direction bands like Software, Peter Seiler, Mind over Matter, Megabyte and Quiet Force joined the label. In 1985 Sakautzky joined with Michael Weisser, the creative consultant, who created the unique design of IC. In the year 1990 the million-turover was reached and the IC DigIt Music GmbH was founded. Four years later, Mark Sakautzky sold his shares in the company and Michael Weisser directed the company together with the Pallas Group, the new partner, until mid of last year. Then DA MUSIC, the distribution company of the label since the beginning, took over Weissers shares and build a new team for the label. DA MUSIC, member of the PALLAS GROUP, and the young experienced team is now releasing selected masters on a fine DVD series called „ Universal Fantasies“ and will revive some of the historic releases in a new, improved version. Furthermore new talents and unique compilations will be featured on the label in the next future. |
